The Pilgrims
The Pilgrims is a Parish group formed for retired Parishioners and their friends. The group is social with an emphasis on good company and interesting events that have a faith component. We meet quarterly or more frequently and we arrange an annual trip to some interesting locations.
MOST RECENT PAST EVENT
THE PILGRIMS GROUP TOUR TO MINSTER ABBEY & ST AUGUSTINE’S SHRINE AND CHURCH, RAMSGATE on Wednesday, 11th September 2024
We hope to be posting a short summary here soon from our most enjoyable outing.
Minster Abbey, Minster Inside of St Augustine, Pugin’s dream church
The visit starts at Minster Abbey. Founded less than a 100 years after the arrival of St Augustine in 597AD to Christianise England, the Abbey is still home to 12 Catholic Benedictine nuns and in our short time there, we can enjoy the tranquility of their gardens and prayer-filled space. After lunch we continued to the Shrine and church of St Augustine. Designed by A.W.N Pugin as his personal church, it is an example of exquisite Gothic Revival by one of the main architects of the Houses of Parliament.

On 13th June '24, Aiden Kiely and Janet Clare gave very interesting talks on ‘Communications’. They spoke about their personal experiences on what they rely on to help navigate their day-to-day life and the challenges they’ve had to overcome to stay technologically in touch.
